My Young Life Mission

Dear family and friends,

As you may know, in the Spring of 2023, I graduated from the Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas (Woo Pig!). As graduation approached, it was time to plan out my next steps. When I began applying for jobs, I wondered just where exactly I wanted to be. After many years of being involved in the non-profit organization, Young Life, the opportunity to live and work at one of its many camps presented itself. What is Young Life you might ask? In short, Young Life is a Christ-centered ministry that helps kids get to know Jesus, grow in their faith, and serve Him. I decided that my next journey was to step into a year-long internship at Carolina Point, a Young Life camp in North Carolina. I then packed up all things I could fit into my car and made the 15-hour road-trip to Brevard NC! .

During my time here I get to work in three different roles, expanding my knowledge of what it’s like to work full time on property staff. For the first four months I worked in the camp store and snack bar for weekend camp. This means that each weekend, hundreds of kids from all over the country were brought to camp to learn about Jesus. A part of their camp experience includes fun things like getting ice cream at the snack bar and buying new stickers for their water bottles. That was my job, managing the camp store!

I am in my new rotation as the kitchen intern. I am learning how the heart of camp works. Because without food, we would not be able to run camp! I lead a team that makes three meals a day for hundreds of people at a time. I make a lot of chicken tenders. These are the dining hall and the kitchen buildings.

When we don’t have campers, we spend the time doing maintenance. This includes housekeeping, yard work, and lots of laundry. I helped string all of these beautiful Christmas lights.

With this letter I ask if you would consider partnering with me, both prayerfully and financially. Young Life’s mission is to “introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. The camping experience is about the kids getting away from the pressures of everyday life, having fun with their Young Life leaders, and hearing the message of God’s love in terms they can understand.”

Young Life is a non-profit organization and relies on donations to serve its mission. Donations made to the camp are tax deductible and can be sent directly through the giving link. If you have any questions on how you can donate or how you can be praying for me, feel free to call or email me.

Please consider making a donation.
